Inspiration in Dreams

Each of the paintings in this series has an associated dream. Some believe that when we dream about a house the house represents our outer shell and the interior represents our feelings or emotions. My dreams inspired the poetry which in turn inspired the images. The images are not necessarily related to the text but are my visual interpretations.

I Dreamt (Stuff) oil and graphite on canvas 40x40cm

I dreamt of a house where the rooms were filled with other people's stuff.

I Dreamt (Old Friends) oil and graphite on canvas 40x40cm

I dreamt of my old doggies

I Dreamt (Older) oil and graphite on canvas 40x40cm

I dreamt I'm older but young again with shining hair.

I Dreamt (Three Stories) oil and graphite on canvas 40x40cm

I dreamt of a house three stories high and flat at the front like a facade.

Inside it was old with small dark rooms.

I Dreamt (Sunshine) oil and graphite on canvas 40x40cm

I dreamt of a house filled with sunshine.

The rooms are light and airy.

A curtain billows with a warm breeze.

I am happy.

I live here.

I Dreamt (Young) oil and graphite on canvas 40x40cm

I dreamt of the house where we used to live when I was young.

I Dreamt (Jewels) oil and graphite on canvas 40x40cm

I dreamt of a house set in green pasture.

The early morning sunlight flashes through the trees

and turns the dew into dazzling jewels.

'I Dreamt of You' oil and graphite on canvas 30x30cm

I dreamt of you.

You are young again, happy and carefree.

Smiling you turn and wave goodbye.

You are gone.

I Dreamt of a House oil and graphite on canvas 80x80cm

'Fantasia' oil on canvas 80x80cm

I dreamt of a house with a white gable end.

A window set high in the eaves glows dimly from within.

The sky is dark, the night foreboding.
